Degrees and Training Certifications

I was quite surprise that a school can offer both degrees and certifications in the same place of education. i would think he school that offers degree would just focus on that.

Paul,
It is finding the right decision at the right time. Many of us have had to work up the ladder one step at a time.

Indeed. Depending on an individuals situation, they may not have the possibility to devote time to a longer program, but would like to get started in the field. I feel its important that different levels of certification are offered to cater to the individual, and their needs during that period of their life.

Elizabeth,
Gainful employment will change how we conduct business by requiring more accountability and shaking out nonviable programs.

With the new laws surrounding gainful employment, there are expectations as to how many students are expected to be placed and how much they can expect to earn vs. how much they paid for their program. Some colleges have eliminated some of their associates degrees and in place offer certificate programs, which are usually lower in cost, so the ratios are better aligned.

Dean,
And for some, it is a difficult decision. They rely on your expertise to guide them.

It's important for the prospective student to know what the qualifications they will need for the career they are exploring. If there is more than one option they can pick the path that is best for them. It's our job to make sure they knoww all the information so they are able to choose wisely.

Kenny,
That is why our sector is very exciting.

Shaun,
Many schools offer a range in order to attract a larger student base.

While many may think that, if you look at allied health or non-traditional work fields, many are just diploma programs as that is what is required for a position in that field. However, many schools may offer that path as well as a AA in accounting - its a traditional career school (virgina college, miller motte, city college).
