Social Media Integration

How should institutions integrate social media sites to enhance student services for current and prospective students?

This is a great resource for us the students and potential students really enjoy this medium. They keep in contact with us and students from around the world find out about us and find out more information about the health care field.

Laura,
Facebook seems to be a great way to keep in touch with the students.

At our school we utilize our Social media for everything. We announce all event and class starts congratulate graduates and licensed professional, even survey perspective who like our FB page. I find that if i post daily with links back to our website we see a great increase in web traffic!

Heather,
Social media is becoming very successful communication tool with both prospective and current students.

Mike,
That depends entirely upon your school's upper management and the resources available.

Tou,
I know several schools that have a facebook page which provides links to additional resources.

Melanie,
I am sure that some do but you need to know your market.

Do students ever object to being contacted this way?

Marcus,
Social media is part of today's world. It is how we commuicate and socialize on some level.

Joseph,
Social media is a very powerful force in today's technology. You can easily be left behind.

It seems that if you are not utilizing social media these days you are behind. I feel that we need to make sure our schools are up to date and using all means available to get the messages out to past, present, and future students

I wish our institution would integrate social media into our everyday operations. I feel like we are missing the mark on reaching our full potential with helping our students.

My question is should this be managed at the school level or "corparate" level. I think this can be a double edged sword. Do you create log in for each student, since services are only for active or graduated students? I see the potential, but just about every school has a secure site, why duplicate resources.

We use social media sites in almost every dept. Career Services is able to reach out to students that they can't get on the phone. Student Services announces events. It is a great tool for interacting with students.
