Exit Interviews
This is the moment to excite and inspire our almost graduating students. This could be the moment that makes them or breaks them. Many of of these students are nervous about what will come next. Our words will help them in their road to success.
Elizabeth,
This is very true. Exceptional customer service will bring in new clientele.
I think as a school this is the best way of finding out how we, as an institution, can offer better services to our students. I think a very satisfied student (client) will bring us tremendous satisfaction and also more future satisfied students (clients). I think nowadays "word of mouth" is the most powerful method of advertisement. This is our best opportunity to inspire them and become better.
Amanda,
Excellent! Thank you for the post.
Thank you Amanda for the information. Feedback from the students is always helpful for a better learning experience and you gave me a great place to start.
It is also a good idea to try to get a commitment from the student to give back to the school to help improve it.
The first section in our exit-interview requires self-evaluation of the students progress. We ask the same questions, previously, at the end of year one. Some questions include(generalized) :
1.Able to apply foundation of knowledge
2.Able to accept responsibility and act as an active team member
3.Able to perform basic procedural skills
4.Able to document accurate data
5.Able to interact and seek contributions from other members of the team
6.Able to accept constructive criticism without a defensive response
7.Act as a dependable team player, exceeding basic responsibilities
The second section evaluates the program. Here are sample questions that would apply to all programs:
1.Didactic instructors are accessible
2.Course objectives are being met
3.Evaluation result are used to effect programmatic change
4.The program is accurately portrayed in admissions/ recruitment information
All responses are ranked on a numerical scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being poor and 5 exceeding expectations. Any score of 1-2 must be explained.
The last section solicits a narrative response to the following questions:
1.Please list the major strengths of this education program:
2.Are there areas that you believe need improvement in this education program? If so please list:
3.Would you recommend this program to a friend or colleague? ï¯ yes ï¯ no
Hope this helps. We are a small program which allows for more focus and intimacy, but maybe a few of these will spark some ideas.
Diana,
The students need to fully understand their obligations beyond the classroom.
Christopher,
Check back on the forum.
Bruce,
Good, effective feedback can only improve the student experience. It should be sought out throughout the educational path.
I ask students to talk about what was good about the program and what was not up to the quality they expected. I also ask what they would change if they were given the chance.
I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas about questions that can be asked to improve the experience for future students?
Our exit interviews involve alot of counseling about repaying loans.
