Using Superlatives?

When I sent in my application for licensure I was told we can not use superlatives. Our slogan was going to be something aong the lines of "raising the bar" in education and was told we can't do that... How can we advertise in a fun and exciting way if we have to be so careful like that? I'm not looking forward to sending out bland advertisements.

Stanley,
No we do not want to be compared to the car industry. We change people through education and they purchase a value.

It is actually kind of refreshing that we work in an industry that doesn't allow fluff in advertising, leave that for real estate and car ads. That doesn't mean our advertising needs to be bland or boring just accurate.

Carrie,

Superlatives cannot be used, for example, "best," "or state of the art" cannot be verified and are considered as misleading.

You want to utilize strong verbiage when promoting your programs to entice students. This requires treading a fine line.

Suzy,

Superlatives are against the Commission's rules. Advertising is about truth and being able to stand behind your words.

Robert,

Superlatives can not be backed up by fact. Therefore, if we use the term "greatest" or "best" it cannot be validated. It is only an opinion.

I would love to know the answer to this as well. This rule is so lame in our route towards setting our selves apart from other schools in our prospecting endeavors.
