Advertising for school

The best advertising for a school comes from the students. The word of mouth that comes from them can either make or break the reputation of a school. Our time should be focused first and foremost on serving the students. If we focus on serving them first, the rest will take care of itself.

I would say that you're accurate. The other side of that is that you're Marketing efforts need to be diverse. Whether it's over the web, in searches, over the website, etc., if you want your school to gain a word of mouth reputation, you need to have a volume of students first.

Randy,

Social media has become the voice of this current generation. Unfortunately it can easily turn into a nightmare based on posts, photographs, etc. Integrity and responsibility are key components.

Social media has taken our world by storm and it is a major component of effective communication in today's society. I mean look at the middle east, social media was the vehicle for the downfall of an entire government. For organizations to deny that social media is an effective method of reaching potential students is just poor marketing development in my opinion. At the same time that social media outlet creates all new opportunities for bad situations to spread like wildfire destroying a reputation in hours. That is why at the end of the day the most important thing is to act with integrity and to follow a solid moral compass when dealing with students.

I agree Patty! My school is in it's second year and we are seeing increased enrollment every session.
Students that have a positive experience with a school will refer others to you.
Students who have been properly directed to a work place that fits both the student and employer's needs will be one of the best forms of credibility for your school.

Susana,

It's a win-win for everyone. The positive experiences will be shared with others witch promotes your school and new students.

Positive experinces of our students brings positives results to the university

Pamela,
It is interesting to watch the development of social media and the affect it has in so many parts of our daily life.

Adolfo,

Word of mouth can work for you or against you. I know from my own personal experience, we tend to give the experiences of friends credence.

Patty Aronoff

Renae,
But everywhere to drive someone is reading the name of your school. Very clever!

Word of mouth is a great way for future prospects and the community to hear about school. Facebook is a nice tool...when a negative post comes up and current students or alumni reply and state the great experience they had or help this post with how to correct their problem.

I agree with you. Word of mouth is everything in any type of business. One negative comment can go a long way.It is very important to keep the students happy so they can encourage others to come to the school and want to continue their careers. Other types of advertisements are TV commercials which is a good way to catch people attention, direct mail, email, and doing special events that will attract others to participate.

This is a great idea. I will look into it for our institution.

Im glad to here that, i am a small school also. I have went to the extreme and got my school name on my car. This is not expensive and people constantly call or ask questions.

Gretel,
The newly developed institution will need to establish credibility and one of the quickest ways it through satisfied alumni and infusion of the graduates into the workforce.

cosette,
So very true...people put so much value in the experiences of others. We love personally developed leads.

I agree with you, but what to do when you are new in the market and you have non or just a few students? In those cases considering other advertising plans is essential. Letting people know you are there, that you have this and this program, that you are located here or there is very important in order to introduce yourself. Once you've been in the business for some time you can be a 100% sure that former students are the best advertising source you can find
