Maintain Contact with former students

How to maintain contact with former students and get interested in providing their employment information to the institution?

Enrique,
They are! It is such a great opportunity to see the success of those students and how our school has changed their life.

Alumni associations are huge assets for our schools. I truly believe that many students want to stay connected, we just need to give them the opportunity.

Michelle,
We often need the reminder of what we have accomplished together. Seeing the success of our students reminds us of that role we played in their lives.

I agree. It's something positive for current and former students, and also staff.

Michelle,
Many schools organize alumni associations to keep the spirit alive in education. Their shared experiences helps both new and existing students.

We are a small campus, so we usually have great communication with almost every student. We like to keep in touch after they graduate and offer any help they may need. I believe it is important and gives our school good reputation, and referrals.

I agree. Maintaining contact with former students not only helps the school with alumni relations, but also increases likelihood for alum to promote the school positively to prospective students, co-workers, and colleagues. This is huge because it plays a factor in how the community views the school and helps with the schools reputation.

Maintaining contact reinforces our support of the student. Alumni utilizing career services, PDL's, and generally positive reinforcement are some of the benefits of such.

Heather,
This is a valuable part of the student experience. Maintaining contact with the students will continue to assist in placement activities, generation of PDLs and just a good working relationship.

maintaining contact with your students after graduation is important in 1 referencing to current student the successes and can also get more exposure to that students success. Using these highlights gives excitement to prospective students and a sense of importance to former students that their success was truly cared for by you as an admissions representative.

mindy,
Continual contact with students is part of going to school. We should always keep in touch for many reasons in that we were part of their life changing opportunity.

It's important information for the future graduates as well.

rollins,

And....ask about PDLs. They are often an untapped resource for new enrollment prospects.

FERLINE,

Follow-up is key. But I also recommend setting the expectation of a follow-up with the student. Letting them know you care and want to hear from them. It is important to the students and the school.

I am all for keeping in contact with former students especially since we provide assistance with job placement, I like to know if the student is currently working in the field that he has obtained his certificate in. Also, this is a way to let the students know that we are still there to provide ongoing support should they need help.
