We are a small campus, so we usually have great communication with almost every student. We like to keep in touch after they graduate and offer any help they may need. I believe it is important and gives our school good reputation, and referrals.

Maintaining contact with former students not only helps the school with alumni relations, but also increases likelihood for alum to promote the school positively to prospective students, co-workers, and colleagues. This is huge because it plays a factor in how the community views the school and helps with the schools reputation.

Follow-up is key. But I also recommend setting the expectation of a follow-up with the student. Letting them know you care and want to hear from them. It is important to the students and the school.

I am all for keeping in contact with former students especially since we provide assistance with job placement, I like to know if the student is currently working in the field that he has obtained his certificate in. Also, this is a way to let the students know that we are still there to provide ongoing support should they need help.
