Student Services

I believe it is probably the most critical and important aspect to a school to have student services available to students. Many students rely on this source to get an idea of which road to take at the institution and rely on advice from the adviser. This can be a make or break point for a student. Personally, I have had some great experiences from a student adviser from the student services department, but then again I have had some terrible experiences as well. It all depends on the person advising, so it is also key to have a person that actually cares about the student's future and issue going on with him/her at the moment.

Andrew,
There are many reasons why student drop, but student services shows your school cares and open up resources to keep you in school.

Student services in my opinion is key, in making sure that every students time in school is a easy passage and that there is no reason for any student to drop.

Omar,

Student services assist student when facing life's challenges. You will help your retention by providing alternative resources so that students don't drop when life becomes overwhelming.

Ronda,
Many schools have eliminated their student services department because of funding available. The school still needs to provide the resources and we have to seek out community opportunities to fill those needs.

Belkis,

There are many life challenges that students experience while they are working on their education. It is a great opportunity to assist students in life challenges by providing resources that they can access. Many students drop because they feel they have no other alternative.

I could not agree more! Student Services add amazing value and richness to the school by offering student a wide range of services. They are the heart of any good institution.

I have worked at many institutions before but the one I'm at now does no have a specific student services department which I found to be a tad strange. Do you think that will negatively impact the enrollment process?

Having students service is critical but going through a career change or going back to school can be stressful to the students.

Victoria,

I am a believer that every school staff member should be aware of student services opportunities. We never know when reaching out and providing options to deal with life's challenges can change a person's decision to stay in school.
