Importance of Graduation
At our institution, we understand that graduation is one of the most important moments that a student can achieve. It is a memory that the individual, as well as family and friends will remember for a life time. We do a very nice graduation at our institution. We are set in on old plantation grounds, and we have several buildings original to that time period. We have our graduation outside in our pavilion area that is surrounded by the magnificent old buildings. It makes for a special ceremony that you just can't find elsewhere. I am glad that our institution puts a special emphasis on the graduation ceremony. It is something that the individual will always remember as one of their biggest accomplishments in life.
Lisa,
Graduation is the celebration of success of the student. It should be shared by the student, their family, friends, and the school. What a great time!

At our institute, graduation is a very important time. Our students actually transition to a new campus for the last two weeks of the program and do the most important part of their training there to earn the credential they have been working for. Our students have worked/studied/trained Fulltime (over 50 hours per week for 20 weeks). Gradution is a time where the students realize all their hardwork and dedication and sacrifices that they have made and get to share it with not only their fellow classmates and instructors but with friends and family who have helped them to realize their dreams and passion.
Julius,
Graduation is the culmination of their educational experience. Theyshould be thinking about that for some time out and seeing that future almost at their fingertips.

Christopher,
I am also sad to hear when students say that they will not attend graduation. It is a celebration of our all their hard work with family, friends and the school we all can come together to celebrate.
Patty Aronoff
Erin,
Wow! You have certainly made an effort in making this a celebratory event.

Erin,
We start talking about graduation at our institution almost a year out. We do that, because (like you said), we know that this cumulative moment in a student's life is not just about them and their accomplishment... it is also about all of those individuals who have supported and listened to them throughout the process to get there (positive and negative).
Julius
Agreed. We might a very big deal out of graduation at my institution as well. We emphasis it from the first day they step in the door. Anytime I hear a student saying they are not planning on attending their graduation, I do not simply let it go. I let them how important it is, and how it means to us and their family and friends see them graduate.
