transfer credit

transfer credits, from my understanding varies from school to school. so I add a disclaimer to my resource notebook. It will definately come handy.

Dale,
Exactly! It is the responsibility of the student to do this research.

yes you can tranfer credits from school to school but it up to recieving instuition to accept any credit from a another university

I agree; however it is something that SHOULD be disclose before the enrollment takes place, in some schools they claim they take them and then is the COLD WATER bucket when there is no credits to tranfer but a loan to carry

Joshua,
They really have to think about the future and what do they want to do following this educational program. Not all credits transfer.

Agreed, it is also always a good practice for the admissions representative to inform prospective students of the process of reviewing and receiving transfer credits. Obtaining an official transcript from School A and having it reviewed by School B can be a long process and the student should be informed of the steps that are necessary for them to take before it becomes the school's responsibility to review.

Cynthia,
You are exactly right on target. It is the student's responsibility to research.

Although it is my responsibility to disclose information about transferring credits, it is the responsibility of the student to do his research, as it is up to the receiving institution IF and HOW MANY credits will be accepted.

Laurie,
You are correct! It is the student's responsibility to research and verify.

I agree it is always up to the discrection of a college what they will accept.

Nate,
It is the student's responsibility to research. Having an idea of their future goals is crucial.

Elva,
It is important that the student clearly understand this aspect of their education. They cannot assume.

Kim,
It is a very important part of their decision making. They often do not figure in what happens after school is completed and if they anticipate continuing on with their education.

Agreed, transferring credits are the different for everyone but super important!

It is up to the receiving institution policies on the amount of credits that will transfer over. Whenever I discuss features and benefits about our institution, I cover this area.

Transfer of Credit is very important to cover, when it is one of the first questions asked, I need to probe as to "reason" behind the question. Is a prospective student anticipating leaving the area before completing the program at my institute? Is the prospective student wishing to continue their education at a specific school? What are the educational and career goals of the student?

Carlos,
So important! It is the student's responsibility to find out from the receiving institution on whether or not credits will transfer.

Monty,
It is the student's responsibility to verify.

Kettia,
It is up to the receiving institution on whether they will accept the credits for transfer.

Make sure you be very careful AND FOLLOW ATI'S GUIDLINES REGARDING THIS MATTER.
