Bachelor's Degree
In the state of Florida, are you required to have a bachelor's degree in order to hold an Admissions Representative position & Agents license?
Stanley,
That is often a talk of debate in admissions. Many schools will require that admissions reps have the level of degree for which the institution offers.

While I agree that having a BS degree in this day and age is very useful and certainly is helpful in this job, I felt obligated to answer the question 'How can someone talk to you about the importance of postsecondary education if you don't have any?' Here's how, I know a very successful Rep. who does not have a Bachelor's Degree; he came into the work force many many years ago when the importance of a degree was not as big of a deal, he developed some great technical skills as well as people skills. He understands that this marketplace is far different than the one he entered decades ago and the opportunites he was presented with as a young man do not currently exist and therefore is able to stress the importance of postsecondary education. He also understands the skill sets it takes to be successful in different areas and is able to match students to programs that are better able to put them in a position to succeed.
Cedric,
Explain your reasoning. My point is explaining the importance of a master's degree is difficult when you have a high school diploma. How can you actively explain the process or rigors of advanced degrees? People see through this.
Eliana,
Many people share your opinion. How can someone talk to you about the importance of postsecondary education if you don't have any?
No, you don't have to have a bachelor's degree. But in my opinion the Admission Representative should have that education because we are the people who is bringing another person to get higher education and we have also to have it.
Katherine,
You bring a point to the table. Students seeking a higher level degree would expect similar requirements in an admissions rep.
Although it is not a requirement, education is an easy way to filter desired candidates. Also, pay grades may be higher for someone with higher education and/or experiences.
Dale,
That is correct in that it is not a requirement to hold a bachelor's degree to be an admissions rep.
no in the state of flordia you dont have to have a bachelor's degree to be a admission position
Susan,
It is not a requirement.
