Small schools may be easier to stay current

Smaller schools usually have fewer programs to keep up with, but are usually updated more frequently, Admissions still need to be up to date with each program.

Bruce,
Larger institutions may have regulatory specialists that work strictly with the state agency and accrediting bodies. Smaller schools have the same requirements and may not have the resources as the larger school.

I would think that larger schools with more programs are more likely to have a full-time admissions staff whose responsibility, in part, would be to keep everybody involved with admissions updated on changes in the law.

In the smaller schools, it is not unlikely that the admissions team each has a multitude of other duties each of which has its own requirement, rules, etc. making it difficult to stay current.

Kesha,
Thank you for your post.

Tou,
The determining factor comes from the student as to which environment they feel they will get a better education. Not everyone wants to be lost in the crowd.

I would have to agree with you on this issue! Any institution, if they implement a good system, should be able to adequately supply the information their employees need and in a timely fashion. The notebooks are a good way to do this.

Agreed! And it's the smaller environment in which students are not a number that can be the primary factor why prospective students choose a smaller proprietary institution over the big state universities.

Kenneth,
Small schools provide an excellent environment for knowing your student base.

Good Point...Makes Life easier

Lee,
Checklists provide a quick status of the enrollment. Keeps up with compliance as well.

Smaller schools may also have a smaller staff, spread thin. This checklist puts everything I need to remember to do in one place for a quick reference - brilliant idea!

Debra,
No matter how small or large the institution, the roles need to be covered as required by rule.

It might be easier but they can still fall short of complianceand other issue if they don't have the right people in place which is very important.

Kenneth,
You bring an important point to the forum.
