Accredidation and transferrability
This is a very important part of the enrolling process. Understanding is key.
Adam,
Correct! T s up to the receiving institution and there is no guarantee of acceptance.
Patty Aronoff
When dealing with a transfer of credits issue it's always important to remind the student that one institution can not guarantee that credits can be transferred to or accepted by another institution.
Ericka,
Many do not, after all it is our school on that diploma!
I know many schools, including ours, will not accept any coursework from a school that is not accredited.
Its very important for students to be aware of whether or not their school is accredited.
Yes! Working in admissions, many students ask if they credits they are going to earn will transfer to another school. I always recommended them to go and ask the school that they are thinking of transferring to to find out if that institution will allow our credits. That way, they are not going to school and have false expectations of their end result.
Very Important! Each institution is different and its very important to understand every situation.
Natacha,
We need to prepare our students for their career choice. Our knowledge and expertise will better inform them for the choices they need to make for their future.
Completely agree, as a student is vital to know this information in order to be prepare for his future and plan his whole carreer in a better way. As an admissions representative we have to inform the student of all these type of regulations and amendments in our school.
Dwight,
...a complete and thorough understanding.
Latoya,
We never know what life will bring.
Paul,
Graduations are such wonderful events. Everyone should attend and see the graduates as they cross the stage with their family and friends cheering. Wow!
I suppose the same can be said for everything that is disclosed and discussed during the admission process. Complete, total, honesty and transparency are important. The ability to speak to a prospective student with complete comfort that they should and would love the institution and all that it has to offer, without feeling a need to be deceptive or clandestine is key. Some new admissions representatives need time to understand and believe in the system, and once they do (speaking from experience) it becomes a meaningful process. Watch one graduation ceremony and you see the fruits of all that hard work.
Adam,
They all go hand-in-hand.
I agree. many sudents have life situations that cause them to move during the course of their education. it's important for them to have all the information they need about transfering crdits upfront so they know what can and cannot happen should they need to move.
Candor and honesty are even more important...
