Transferability of Credits

Can an insitution insinuate to their prospective students that credits may be transfer to other schools since the institution is nationally accredited?

No they can't. That decision is always at the discretion of the receiving institution.

Tonyia,

Check with your Director of Education! They can explain who your articulation agreements are with and how they work. Student's will want to know who to contact.

Patty Aronoff

I want to learn more about our institutions articulation agreements.

kim,
Absolutely! It should be done and fully explained before starting the program. It affects their course of study and the cost of school.

Patty Aronoff

Nothing in regards to the transfer of credits should be left to insinuation. The advisor needs to make sure the student is fully aware of the schools transfer of credits policy and forward the students transcripts to the appropriate department to evaluate, in order to ensure its accuracy.

David,
Articulation agreements must be set and in writing as a contract between the two institutions. If an articulation exists, it should be stated in the catalog.

Patty Aronoff

Does this include articulation between institutions as well? Or is that something that you would want to make sure you are using the correct terminology when informing a potential student about this agreement?

Claudia,

Never. Your catalog should state that the determination of the transferability of credits rests solely with the receiving institution.
