Make sure you know the rules.

Knowing the compliant issues and rules are a vital part of admissions. It ensures that you remain on the up and up with the potential student as well as current students. Providing false or exaggerated information to a student can be catastrophic to their learning and career future.

Ron,

Always, always follow the rules! Rules are there to protect you, to guide you. You cannot go wrong by following the rules.

Patty Aronoff

I have always been a believer in the following, "When in doubt, follow the rules!!" If you know the rules, then follow them, you and your students will communicate better.

ARGELIA,
Very good advice. If you don't know find out from someone who does. It is better to say you will find out than to give inaccurate or misleading information.

Patty Aronoff

It is vital for an admissions rep to be familiar with rules and regulations. It is very easy to mislead s student.... Do not make this mistake... if unsure of an answer.... ASK YOUR SUPERVISOR.....

Stacie,
Yes! The rules and statutes protect the student and the school. We should all be working together for a better educational experience.

The commission is a win win for both the student and the institution.

Jonathan,

Regular feedback with proper training is essential to the success of admissions representatives. The feedback helps us grow and develop.

It's also part of our job description here. Our Director makes sure of this with adaquate training. We are all given feedback because this is what makes us better Admissions Representatives.

It is vital for admissions counselors to know the rules because they could have a grave effect on the institution. Not only does the counselor get affected but they could have a major impact on the lives of the students if there time and money was not worth while.

Spot on, Jackie! I'd add, it's win-win-win: you win as well because you've maintained your integrity! Helps me sleep very well at night.

Jackie,
It is a win-win. The Commission rules protect not only the student, but your institution.

Patty Aronoff

protecting yourself and the institution only protects the students as well in the long run! its a win win

Brian,

It's against the law in Florida. The Commission is a consumer protection agency and their rules fully enforce the protection.
