Transfer of the credits

When a student asks about the transfer of our credits to other institutions, we advise them of check the other institutions, we advise them that to check with that institution because transfer credit policies vary from institution to institution.

Patrick,
Compliance will require valid documentation for transfer of credit review. An official transcript with a copy of the previous school's catalog are generally the minimally accepted documents.

Transfer of credit is a integral/mandatory part of our prospective student initial interview. They are shown how and where to access it on our website, and a hard copy is presented , along woth a verbal explanation/rendetion of the policy is presented at the very first/start of the interview process.

Fernando,

Yes, it is the responsibility of the student to research the transferability of credits.

Hi Tiffany,

To answer your questions (based on what my institution does) if someone tries to transfer in credits and we do not accept them, the student will have to retake the course. We usually would not accept a course due to a certain grade they recieved, or if it did not apply to their program they are applying for at our institution. They can probably keep the credit at the institution where they took the course, but it would not transfer in as credit to another institution. In addition, if we have students that were attending our institution years ago, dropped out, and return and the program has changed, sometimes they have to retake courses as well because the classes have been updated. We do not put into consideration the degree the professor had, I do not believe that is even looked at in regard to transfer credits. I do know most professors have to have at least a masters degree if not a doctoral level degree. Does this help answer your questions?

Regarding Transfer of Credits: I know not all schools accept all credits. If someone tries to transfer their credits and the schhool does not accept them or allow them to transfer, does the student have to retake the course completely? I guess my question is if they have paid for the class and passed the class do they not get to keep the credit? Also does a college put in consideration what the degree the professor has that taught the class when determining whether they will accept the credit? I know there all a lot of different factors when it comes to transferring credits.
