Transfer of Credits
Is transfer of credits or work experience a necessary option for those students coming to our new trade school?
Correct. They must provide their sealed transcripts for the Academic dean to review. It is up to the institution to see if any credits will transfer in. We advise students that want to continue their education elsewhere in the future to ask those questions before enrolling to ensure they will meet their educational goals.
Elery,
Interesting! No matter the process, it remains the receiving school's decision on what will transfer.

It really depends. Different majors offer a certain number of credits, certain degrees too - it is different for let's say the bachelor of business and the master of business. It is less - and the cost for the TOC is different as well. It is higher for the masters program. Also, work experience is available for our psychology program and for our education program our institution no longer allows it. So it really varies even down to the program of study.
Howard,
Depends. Critics will say it does not compare to true academics.

Credits and work experience is a necessary option for students coming to our trade school. I think on the job experince ranks high with scholastic credits.
Completely agree Rachel. This is one of the most important concepts to convey to prospective studetns, IMHO.
AGREEDED! We must communicate this.
It's also imortant to recognise why the student might be asking? Do they have credits they want to transfer in? or They're considering the next step in their education?
Transfering in: explain your school's process, Official Transcripts . . . etc...
If they are asking about what happens after completing this course . . . I think it's very important to understand their Ultimate Goal.
Rachel,
Yes, and it is the student's responsibility to provide the required information to the school.

Transfer of credits is up to the discretion of receiving instituion. it is important that this information is clearly communicated to the prospective studnet.
Jennifer,
No, some schools do not accept transfer of credits. This is determined by the school.

Courtney,
That is strictly up to the school on whether they wish to accept transfer credits.

I would be interested in this information also.
