We have on going training from all departments of our school. My managers require we attend these meetings especially for change of programs, updated information of program, new federal rules, new education rules, and anything that will be needed to keep us up to standards with codes, rules, and policies.
Networking has been key. We have also used our partner agencies and referral networks to access. And, we promote at any and every related meeting we can.
I think that weekly "team meetings" are very important, especially in a small(er) school like the one where I work. As we grow from being a quasi- "Mom and Pop" operation, it is important to have more frequent and more in-depth discussions as a faculty and a staff as policies and procedures change and/or codify further as time goes on.
Thus far (since I have only been working at this job for one month), I have attended meetings with the Director of this small, but growing, institute and some of the staff who have been doing some of the admissions duties. I think that my Director thought it would be time-saving for her and me to take this course now to catch me up on all this useful information-- and it has been! Now that I have taken this course, I am a valuable "resource person" for the Director as well as the rest of the staff. In the past week, I have put my new learning into practice by compiling a "FACULTY Resource Notebook" to which I'll add relevant updates and materials from the meetings on policies and procedures for them as part of my job in the future.
the university keep us up to date because they always send us to any training that we can become more knowledgeble about the job and anything relate to the field of admissions.
There are numerous meetings that I attend to learn more about my job, admissions policies, regulatory environment and my institution. These include on the local level weekly managers meetings held on campus to communicate to all personnel and an all staff meeting quarterly. All personnel calls quarterly, national admissions calls monthly, and daily regional admissions calls. On campus I attend PAC meetings with the education department to hear from local employers with their ideas and feedback. We are also a member of the chamber of commerce which provides training and meetings. Finally, I stay linked in through social networks, state of Florida Department of Ed, CIE, ACICS And Department of Education sites to stay current on the local and regulatory environment. This information is then shared with my admission's representatives to keep them up to date.
I will attend the admissions policies including the regulatory requirements due to the fact, that all the meeting are necessary to acomplish my work.
We have weekly meeting to update on policy, regulatory updates and training.
We have weekly meetings and training from each dept of the school.
