Institutionally / Regionally Accredited
What is a good way to blatantly describe to students the difference between Instutional / Regional / National Accreditation & how it will affect their employment post graudation?
derrick,
We cannot predict or assume regarding transferability of credits. So much goes into the review of the credits and it is far more than accreditation. Are the outcomes the same, how old are the credit, grade awarded, semester hours vs. credit hours, etc.

We see this all the time including the hot topic of nursing programs. I instruct them to look at the potential employers website or job descriptions to see what is needed but I also let the know that:
Regional accreditation is mainly for public schools.
National Accreditation is usually for Private schools.
and that transferring into a public school with regional accreditation may not be acceptable if your institution is not accredited or nationally accredited.
Just be honest because it will bite both you and your employer in the but if you lie or mislead. It can/will lead to a lawsuit.
Colleen,
Just put it out there! How it affects them individually may be a tough one as we are never sure what their employers are looking for.
