The more you know about where you work and the program and student service offerings, the more confident you will feel. Meetings and ongoing training are very important to the continued professional development of an admissions representative.

I feel it is imperative that we are up to date on all admissions related information as well as other departments by doing so it helps put perspective students at ease about their intentions to attend your school if they feel like their admissions advisor is knowledgeable and able to answer most of their questions.
As an Admissions Represenative we represent a Great Institution that has been around since 1946. It is imperative that all Admission Representatives are able to present themselves as knowledgable professions and be up to date with information. We need to be able to set an example.

It is important to be knowledgeable. It is just as important to ask questions when you don't know the answer. We are at risk if we just guess.

I believe that the key to success is being as knowledgeable as possible about whatever it is that you are trying to explain or teach. If your in the dark about a subject or not super familiar with what your trying to tell a student it shows. It shows that you aren't confident and you aren't sure about what your trying to discuss. It is important to constantly be training and learning every day because it only makes you better at your job, and gives you more of an opportunity to help the student if you are completely aware of everything you are talking about.

Admissions representatives are also required to adhere to the standards of the rules and regulations. There are many rules regarding fair consumer practices that admissions representatives do need to be aware of including what they can and cannot say.
