Gainful employment
As part of my job, I think it is important to know what other schools graduation and employment rates are. I was extremely surprised to see that one of the largest state colleges only graduates 2-3 students per year! That is out of a class of 10-12 students enrolled in technical courses such as automotive and diesel technology.
Brittany,
It's finding the right fit for the student and the school in the program of their interest. If it's not right at the student will end up dropping out and we all lose.

When meeting a prospect, you should make sure that it is the right career path for them. Some students have anterior motives, or just don't know what to do with their future so they just pick something that seems easy with a high pay off. If they aren't passionate about it and put in hard work, they might not make it to graduation.
Nelson,
You are right on target! It is a process of finding out information and applying it individually. It takes a partnership

I think this is also where, as admissions advisors, we need to help our students think outside the box a bit. For instance, if one learns the degree programs and understands the job opportunities within that industry, it's then a lot simpler to help a student understand their choices when seeking employment.
Laura,
There is always an explanation behind each statistic. Unfortunately, we often do not have that opportunity to fully explain. Prospective students will make comparisons with other schools to determine which is the right school for them.

Dara,
It is public record and is an indicator of how successful your school is. Many prospective students are looking at your statistics in that manner.

It is also very important to know what the statistic is looking at such as the graduation rate. Stats may be low due to what is being looked at and what type of students attend the school. I believe my school's graduation rate is low due to the fact that not too many students come in with no previous college credits and graduation in exactly 4 years.
I too think it is very important to know graduation rates for your institute and for other institution. Students need to understand before they begin their program what it is going to take for them to graduate and how they are going to have to make it happen to become a graduate.
Charles,
Yes, the metrics are important, especially when you start do do comparisons. Students are comparing schools in the same manner. The information is out there.
