Licensing and Accreditation
If not all institutions legally must be accredited, how are the validity of the degree/certificate obtained by the students parallel to one that was obtaine from an accredited institution?
Judy,
Many prospective students assume that their credits will transfer and quickly discover that the process is involved and there are no guarantees.

Sara,
Programmatic accreditations are program specific. Institutional accreditations are different in that the accreditation covers the entire school program offerings.

Tyneka,
This is where the licensure by the state of Florida is the highest credential recognized. Accreditation is voluntary, licensure is mandatory.

Always one of the sorest spots for Admissions . I would say in all of my experience other than tuition this is the number 2 question i get . Will my credits transfer etc?. I have always struggled with this myself if the institution does not have a higher acdredidation etc. However thank godness due to my experience in the field I have seen this over come by the value of the education earned and how it translates into the sutdnets life post graduation :)
Certain programs can hold specific accreditations. If an institution does not hold a regional or national accreditation, I'm wondering if a student graduates from a medical program within that instituation that does hold a nationally recognized accreditation if that suffices? To hold those accreditations your entire program and department has to be run and set up how the accrediting body sees fit. If that is what matters, and students are able to obtain their license, then it may not matter if the school has an umbrella accreditation. I would suspect most programmatic accreditations would require schoolwide accreditations, but I'm unsure.
