Transferability of Credits
There must be clearly written policies about transfer of credit into your institution. The applicant must be advised about how credits from your school may or may not be accepted by other institutions.
Latia,
There should be no assumptions nor promises. The transfer of credit should be evaluated in accordance with school policies and application to the schools programs.

This is always tricky, although you want to work with the student most times all hours cannot be transfered.
Olga,
It states that very fact in the catalog. We always need to remind students that there are no guarantees.
Patty Aronoff
we need to be very clear that transferability of credits is up to the receiving institution, they may or may not accept or receive their credits.
Shawayne ,
A transfer of credits is determined upon the receiving institution. The process should be well explained.
Patty Aronoff
I agree this is very important in the decision making process for the student. They will need to understand if their credits from prior institutions can be accepted. Also what that process would entail. not providing this information accurately could result in the lost of a student.
Yvonne,
It is mandated that the language be placed in the catalog regarding transfer of credits. Admissions staff should refer to the language when discussing this topic.
Patty Aronoff
Bishada,
Rule states that is the determination of the receiving institution whether credits will transfer. It is the responsibility of the student to seek that determination.

A lot of what is discussed with my student is dependent on them going out to do the research to see what is the policy to transfer credits of the receiving institution whether it be them trying to enroll in my university or another institution after my university... Always need to check out the transfer of credit policy for the receiving institution.
