The Job Market
The economy has not been steady for several years. Schools cannot make any promises to students about jobs or salary
Ralphael,
Excellent! You have the data in the statistics to prove your statement.
Patty Aronoff
Throughout the country, there is a ratio of about
(1)in 150...RV Technicians available still in the
workplace. These stats are national numbers given
by the top governing institutions around the country. We advise our students that there is a great demand for RV Technicians out there, but that the wages vary...usually between $15-$20.00hr.depending on the state you work in.
It can be a very satisfying and lucrative occupation, the more you learn and the more time
your in that job. We offer with documented proof
after (1)year in the field, they will receive a
Certified Master Technician Certificate...which
will enable them when applied to any organization
can give them better wages for their service. I truly believe that with a Technical School, the student has a better chance for employment in the workplace. We offer continuing ed courses, and different areas of study, for those who wish to specialize.
Samantha,
No promises and no guarantees. We cannot offer something that we cannot be 100% sure of delivering. Both of those categories fall into that.
Patty Aronoff
I agree, we cannot make any promises!
Megan,
Career services is the best in helping students on their skills for job interviews and resumes. They provide assistance in seeking opportunities out in the workplace based on their career objectives.
Patty Aronoff
I like the fact that my institution has a career services person to assist students before or after graduation. We try and stay involved in the community so that both students AND potential employers for students know about us. - Megan
Schlegel,
Every student will be different upon graduation. By providing the resources as you state, we give them an opportunity to see the career field of their choice. When it comes to employability, they face the market and competition of others seeking the same goal.
Patty Aronoff
Is the Job Market or the Unemployment Bench? Either was it is not proper, lawful, advisable to tell anyone, he/she will get a job upon graduation. The best method is to show the student where to research past data, current opportunities, and create his owns. Just like the stock market, past performance does not guarantee future behavior. Each student has his own set of skills to bring to the table in an interview. My institution job is to prepare the student for all possible circumstances by giving him a good education, and the resources to make his own research.
David,
No promises and no guarantees. We can, however, do our very best to provide them the best resources when they get out into that tough market.
Patty Aronoff
Kendal,
It is best to give them the resources where they can do their own research. ONet is a great opportunity to research positions in different areas.
Patty Aronoff
This is one of the re-occuring points through out the training. It is important to not make any promises to students. The reality is the job market is tough. But it is our job as an admissions representative to provide factual information with honesty and integrity on employment prospects with no promises.
Yes i agree. I think that staying connected to salons and potential employers has really helped me.
No they can't, but they can give a pretty educated guess as to what a students salary might be. I don't think they make promises when they suggest what a students salary might be either.
Susana,
No, there are no promises. We can however provide the best placement services available to us in our area. Making connections with potential employers is part of the process as well as preparing students for the career of their choice beyond academics.
Patty Aronoff
CLEOPHAT,
The efforts that we put into placing a student is beneficial to both the student and the school. Obviously the student is getting a job in their career field. Also, the school is able to record a placement which is recorded in their metrics of outcomes.
Patty Aronoff
Kristi,
They will also be breaking the law! There are no guarantees of placement. We can only provide placement assistance.
Patty Aronoff
Jonathan,
No promises! No guarantees! The best process to follow is to provide them valid resources in which they can do their own research.
Patty Aronoff
You are right, however it is required that we do job placement for our student. For example, in my school, we have a board where we post some jobs; and also we always seeking some places for internship.
As well, there is no guarantee that a student will absolutely get a job after graduating. So if an agent tells a student that "we will help get you a job that you can make about $$$" then when/if a student graduates, they will be upset that they were not helped as they were promised.
