Transfer Credit Policies
Institutions may vary in transfer policies regarding the amount of credit an applicant can transfer. For example, students may be asked to provide transcripts of course credits they wish to transfer.
Katherine,
Criteria for transfer of credit should be listed in the catalog. Since the student must provide an official transcript evaluation is done at the receiving institution.

Another consideration in the possibility to transfer credits is the grade obtained in the courses. For example, in our institution the minimum grade in a course to be approved in the graduate level is B; in other institutions the minimum grade is C.
Joana,
Transferability of credits when a school closes is determined by the commission for independent education. When the school decides to close, they must contact the commission immediately for direction on proper closing.

Transfering credits may also be an alternative in the prospect of a school closing, because by partnering with another institution all the enrolled students will have the posibillity to complete its program there.

No matter what your transfer credit policy is, it must be published in the catalog so that the student is aware.

At our Institution, the transfer credit policies requires at least an 80% course content match from a like accredited institution with a letter grade of C or higher.
Ashlee,

CLEOPHAT,
There are maximum requirements listed in the commission rules. It is important that the transfer of credit is properly evaluated as the schools accepting responsibility of that credit towards the completion of a degree at their school.

I believe that every institution has its own policies regarding transferring credit. For example, in my institution, the passing rate is 75%; if a student gets a score of 70% for a class and wants to transfer to our school, he or she will still have to retake this particular class since it does not meet our passing rate.
