institution marketing
Where would be a good place to start when looking for an outside marketing director for our institution?
Andrea,
The trust factor is huge. Think about all that is put on the table that is new to the student. They are trusting that you are providing them the correct information.

Jenna,
Social media today is what keeps those on the Internet together. It's the new realm and we are just beginning to understand the power that it holds.

Tasha,
The best brand recognition is that of our graduate students going into the workforce.

I definitely feel that the trust factor is huge when a prospective students first shares their interest. Not only is marketing on the internet and social media one of the most effective ways to bring in new students, word of mouth is definitely just as important. Many students are more prone to trusting a particular institution when they know of former students that have attended and seen how well it had personally gone for them.
I also recommend social media. The students of today's world are a new breed. They are more interlocked into technology than ever before and reaching them on their smart phones via social media is far more likely than the traditional methods, or so I have found in my experience.
Marketing and brand recognition is imperative for any business to succeed. Most people must trust the product/institution prior to enrolling or participating.
Jacqueline,
If you are using a marketing firm, Chamber of Commerce would be a good place to start and seeking a marketing person for your area. Otherwise word-of-mouth and referrals is the second best opportunity.
