Transfer of credits
Knowing the transferability of your credits to another institution and accepting credits from another institution.
Denise,
When a school gives a transfer credit, they are making the determination that the credit already received equals what they would receive at the campus. There is a monetary angle but also the final institution is the one awarding the degree.

Sylvia,
Often times, the students just assumed that credits will transfer. They are very disappointed to find that they do not have that commonality.

Jeremy,
The catalog states that it is up to the receiving institution to determine the transferability of credits. It is the students responsibility to obtain official transcripts and request a review.

Is it for financial reasons that most schools do not accept (transfer) credits from others schools?
I have quiet a few students with the same concern and my response is the same. The transfer-ability of credits is always up to the receiving institution. I think most schools are more lenient nowadays, so usually if you work for a reputable school, they'll accept it.
Hi Yeni and Patty,
I must be asked by perspective students at least five times a day about the transferability of credits. Typically a student wants to know if our credits will transfer to another institution. My standard response is “the transferability of credits is ALWAYS up to the receiving institution.†I also advise that if they are considering attending another college after attending this institution it may be in their best interest to reach out to that other institution and ask about their policy regarding transfer credits.
Yeni,
Transferability of credits for your institution is a process. The catalog specifically states that the transfer of credits is up to the receiving institution. It is the students responsibility to investigate.
