Knowing the schools programs
Being knowledgeable about all the programs truly helps the perspective student make an informed decision if this is what they really want.
Elasha,
Classroom visits are such fun! I always enjoy sitting in on the classrooms watching the student experience and learning something all-in-one afternoon.

I stay up to date on the programs offered at my institution by stopping by the classroom and observing each program in the beginning of every week. This helps me stay on top of what they are doing in the classroom, to better inform the prospect about what is currently going on and what the class has done.
Nicole,
Product knowledge is at the heart of every successful admissions representative. They work hard to know everything possible about the programs offered by their school.

To accurately inform perspepective students, it is essential to be educated on the programs offered at our campus.
Shanna,
So true! Good communication is based listening skills and information presented.
Patty Aronoff
I agree. It is very important to be informed about all programs and take the time to listen to the students goals. The advisor and student can work together to determine the right program.
Laura,
Check out the classrooms and get to know the instructors. By being part of a classroom experience, you will find you have a new perspective.

My school offers four programs at the campus I work at. I find myself asking my work study students about key elements and their perspective so I can better rely information to the students since I have not actually majored in the fields myself. It has helped me speak more accurately and confidently to prospective students.
Victoria,
You can also refer them to the article. I commend you on taking a further interest.
Patty Aronoff
Victoria,
And the students will pick up on that! As human beings we trust on intuition.

Harriet,
The prospective student relies on us for the information on which their decision is based.

I had the opportunity of running into articles about Massage Therapy, lately. It's everywhere, they are calling it "the new medicine", even the Wall Street Journal wrote a full article on it as "no more pampering, massage is serious business". When I talk to my students, I feel that I know what I am saying and I have proof. This is not sales, is serious information.
It also helps the Admissions Representative in various ways. As you become very knowledgeable about the programs offered at your institution and even develop a research "curiosity" about the subjects, you are not just well informed but you add a deeper interest to the potential student while enjoying a comfort level when doing your job.
