Admissions Training
What if the prospective student doesn't meet with career services or placement department during the admissions tour?
Magdali,
There are always opportunities to learn and develop. Taking advantage of these can only improve yourself and the service you deliver.

This training is excelent, we must never stop learning. It is important to understand recruiting guidelines and the do's and don'ts of what can and cannot say or do.
MARILYN,
Agreed! You can never stop learning as the world is constantly changing.
Patty Aronoff
It is very important to continue learn
Erika,
That is a great practice to have. Connecting the students with with career services will get them started on their job hunt early.

Jennifer,
The most successful schools are the ones that start with student services for their students. There are many challenges along the path to graduation and the ultimate goal of getting a job. Student services should be there all along the way.

Even if they don't meet with the career services office after the tour, it is our responsibility as Admissions Representatives to have resources to give the prospective student. I always refer to their prospective profession's website, where there is typically more information about jobs and salaries. This directs them to the appropriate arena for them to explore this information, instead of looking to the University for set numbers on salary or job placement.
Since I have been with Student Services, the best advice I give to a prospective student, is to meet with me after a tour, so they can learn about the admissions process. Many ask "what will make me a competitive candidate" and there is always more direct responses we give them opposed to our Q&A section of our university website. That helps us receive the appropriate applications as well.
Jean-Max,
There is nothing stipulated in the rules that they must meet with those departments during the tour.
