Transfer Credits

acceptance of transfer credits typically requires submission and review of documents proving that the aplicant's life and work experience meets certain course learning objectives.

Michelle ,

This is a solid process and one of best practices. Comparisons are difficult without full documentation.

I agree. We have a similar process in place for transfer credits. We require official, sealed transcripts, request for waiver of credit forms and if needed, we ask for syllabi or course descriptions. All paperwork is submitted to our Academic Committee. A process that is accepted by our students.

Jennifer,

The state agencies are there to help. Good advice.

Betsy,
A very good process. An official transcript along with syllabi or catalog are the mainstays of credit review.

Our facility have a well set steps to credits. The most important things for the transcripts provide all the required elements that is needed to be able to to the job right. The DBPR has helped us a lot in this. If you ever have a problem you can call and speak to a rep and they would be able to help you with all the questions you have in order to credit the student correctly.

We have a specific process in place where we have the student complete a transfer request form letting us know which courses they want us to consider as an equivalent to our program courses. We retrieve information to evaluate such as syllabus or course description in addition to the official transcript already on file and then it is reviewed by the program director for approval.

Israel,
Point well taken on this very controversial subject.

Patty Aronoff

it is really hard to professionally evaluate one's work history for the purposes of getting academic ctiteria, unless one had worked within the context of higher education or educaton sectors.
I have seen a lot of honorary doctorates that wee awarded as a token of recognitions for professional sccompllishments but to award a phd or its equivalent to someone with a real career track record seems unethical

NATALIA,
There should be a specific process in place so that the review is done timely and completely.
