transfer credits

Institutions have policies about the amount of credit an applicant can transfer into the institution for each program. What are some of these policies ?

Anita ,
You have an outstanding process with a thorough and fair review.

Patty Aronoff

We accept transfer credits only from schools that have either a cosmetology, barber, or full specialist programs. The student MUST bring in a full set of transcripts, including grades, services completed, and hour completed. At times, I give this information to one of our instructors for evaluation. Sometimes we only transfer the hours that are useable. We want our students to leave here with the proper education, and you can't count on others all the time.

Harry,
Each institution is different and it is important that they fully understand transferability of credits and the effects to their academic costs.

Patty Aronoff

We advise our students that want transfer credits applied that there are charges per class or course and also noted in the enrollment agreement and catalog because sometimes they are under the impression that there are no charges for evaluation.

Kimberly,

Yes, it is also stated in the catalog. One should never assume about the transferability of credits.

Patty Aronoff

When interviewing a student, one should always disclose that it is up to the receiving institution on the transfer of credits. Most institutions require that 25% percent of the program be completed at the specific institution to graduate.

Ron,

Along with the official transcript! Verify the school they are coming from and get the proper documentation.

Patty Aronoff

Nakia,
Correct. It is usually reviewed by the Education Department or Registrar for credit awards.

Patty Aronoff

Isva ,
It must be an official transcript in a sealed envelope from the awarding institution.

Patty Aronoff

Check the receiving institutions catlog for all requirments when considering transfer

That should always be disclosed in the institution catalog and never discussed by any admissions advisor then your risk being out of compliance

Helen Castro,

In order for another school to credit a student anyhting from their pro=ior education, they would need an offical transcript signed and sealed by the school.

To transfer credits, you will need transcripts in a seal enveloped.

Helen,
It varies from institution to institution. Some institutions do not accept any credits.

Patty Aronoff

Guy,
Your catalog is your guiding document. Your institution should also have a process on how those credits are reviewed and applied.

Patty Aronoff

Karina,
Each institution determines what credits they will accept.

Patty Aronoff

The catalog is definitely a great place to be looking for those answers because it has to reflect the current laws related to transferability of credits as delineated by chapter 6E and the accrediting body of your institution.

Guy J. Solon

I think that it all depends of the institution the catalog of the school should address the policies of transferring credits.
