If a student did not finalize payment after completing a course, has not returnrd to pay balance after a year,(over extended time) how long can the institution hold the certificate?

Students must fulfill all their obligations to the school before receiving their credentials. Otherwise, there is no incentive to meet those obligations.

I appreciate how my institution has placed more of an emphasis on the entrance counseling required by the federal government when students are using loans/grants to pay tuition. It's a big decision to take on this financial obligation and I am glad we are able to make sure they understand this before pursuing our education program.
I agree that we may hold their certificates until the balance is paid. However, this is difficult to do since at times they want their credentials in order to pursue a job. I understand the rules and regulations regarding this. Tuition at our private school is very expensive and it seems as if without student loans, no student is able to pay for it.

I think it would be a good practice for a school to have an educational session with students to let them know what kind of tuition assistance is available and how the school administration can help.

Students must have met all requirements as listed in the catalog in order to receive their credential. You may hold until paid.
