Tuition Cancellation and Refund Policy

It is very important to inform students during the enrollment process and again during the orientation period, the withdrawal policy. This way students are more likely to remember, hearing twice. Providing facts on the prorated amount due to cancellation as set by the school is very critical; it speaks to the credibility of the institution.

Nicole,
That is an excellent practice. Many people do not even think about how the refund policy will affect them.

I always ask the student if they understand the cancellation and refund policy after I review it, so that I can answer any questions they may have.

Francisco,

Many students don't think about the possibility of a refund. Unfortunately it does occur and then they need to be knowledgeable about how refunds are calculated. It is expressly stated in the enrollment agreement and again in the catalog.

Unfortunately, in many cases, students who have drop from a program often "don't recall" the refund policy which is clearly stated in their enrollment agreements. In my case, I take the time to explain this very well, and make sure they understand said policy. Our enrollment agreement has a line the students have to initialize at the end of the Refund Policy section.

I agree - it is crucial that the refund policy be explained as part of the admission process and
reviewe on the agreement and in the catalog.

Rita,

Very good advice! It is through complete understanding that we conducts our business.

Not only should these policy's be identical they should be memorized and enforced. Students should be educated as to this policy and should have it explained during the enrollment process, this will avoid confusion or questions in the future.

Daniel,

The enrollment agreement should list the refund policy and or cancellation policy. This must match exactly what is stipulated in the catalog.

Patty Aronoff

The enrollment agreement should clearly specify the cancelation policy. This will protect the student as well as the institution.

merlene,
They must be well versed in both processes and understand what will happen if they choose to withdraw.
