What is the maximum amount of transfer credit your institution will ac

Our institution will accept up to 50% of transfer credits however they have to be of a passing grade of a C or above. We also have an articulation agreement with a community college so, we have to be very sure when transferring of any credits. Our Dean and Academic dept. is heavily involved in the process which makes it easier on the rep to avoid any compliance issues

Jamye,
That is correct. 25% of the courses required must be taken at the institution.

The comissions rules states "At least 25% of the credits or hours required for completion of a program must be earned through instruction taken at the institution awarding the credential unless a different standard has been adopted by the recognized accrediting body accrediting the institution, or by a governmental agency whose policies apply to the institution".

therefore 75% for the program can be transferred credits.

Do you suppose this includes testing out of courses and work experience?

Mary,
This should be separately stated in the catalog. The commission requires a maximum ceiling amount but a school can ask for less.

Our institution must provide 51% of the student's education. In a bridge program, we must ensure that transfer credits do not exceed the allowed amount and the student can choose which classes they are willing to retake. We have also implemented a 5 year limit on science and math courses to better ensure a student's success in the program. It is not a popular policy change but better for the student in the long run.

Kalyn,
Excellent! Articulation agreements can be wonderful for your students in the ability to transfer credits to another institution. All the hard work is done.
