We require all prospective students to complet a career planning packet to better gauge their intentions and motivations before the admissions appointment.

At our school we have a career evaluation check list, that students complete along with their application, this helps admissions guide them into their best program.

It is! Then revisit that information they wrote later. One guesting is to have them write a letter to themselves that we present to them after they have been in school. They revisit the reason why they enrolled in the first place.

I believe our school would benefit from this. Asking the students to write down the goals and timelines they are working with will only help them stay on a realistic track. This is something that would be a great tool to use during the first conversation with an applicant.

Interesting requirement. Do you have an example of the packet? I'd like to do the same thing since many applicants have unrealistic goals and timelines.
