Admission Requirements

Our Barber Academy requires for all students to have a valid high school diploma or Ged. If your under the age of 18, then the parent has to sign and agree to the enrollment plan.

Hi Patty,
Absolutely, I am an administrative assistant and do occasionally check for documentation in the student's files.
Thank you for the reply!
Robin

its a requirement for admisions to have a high school diploma, GED, or the grandfather ATB with prior financial aid history

Margarita,
Unfortunately there are many schools out there that are not legitimate. We need to take the extra steps and determine the validity of the transfer.

Patty Aronoff

We agree, all high school and GED we must research the credentials and we accept only if is accredited under any accreditation recognized by the Department of Education.

Maria,

You are being compliant with the rules. There are many diploma mills out there and as a school we need to research the credentials for admissions

Patty Aronoff

As a requirement for enrollment in my institution the student needs a high school diploma or GED. We don't accept diploma mills. Also, we have a list of schools that we don't accept certain high schools diplomas.

Stephanie ,

Unfortunately, they do exist and bring a bad name to education. We must exert due diligence in weeding them out.

Robin,
When we have specific requirements for admissions, the documentation proving such must be authenticated and in the student file.

At my University I work in the Distance Education Department and all students must be licensed clinicians have at least a bachelorette degree and work history in order to qualify for admission into the Doctoral programs.

We also come into problems with the Diploma Mills. We have a 9 page sheet of "schools" that we cannot accept their diploma. Unforunatley, this list increases day to day. We tend to look at the diploma for a state, county, and possibly a signature of the superintendent. Most of the time if it lacks one of the following, it is indeed a diploma mill and not accepted.

In order to attend a post secondary institution, a valid HS or GED is required

Rachel,

Diploma mills are invasive and pop up all the time. Your list will need to be updated regularly to catch the new ones.

Patty Aronoff

My school requires that potential studnet has a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. In addition, they MUST be at least 18 years old. If less than 18, parrents or guardian MUST co-sign the enrollment agreement. Regrading the diploma mills, my instituion provide a updated list of schools that are not accepted for admisisons. This information helps the admisisons personnel easily access diplomas that are not accepted.

Victoria,

Diploma mills are the nasty side of our business. As a school, it is your responsibility to verify the entrance requirements and make sure the credential is real.

Patty Aronoff

Unfortunately, lately we have had to deal with "diploma Mill" high schools that are no longer accepted by many post-secondary institutions. It is very important not to discourage the student from pursuing a career. At this time we have to experience things from their side. Have a list with the name of various Public Adult centers where they offer High School or GED programs.

DAGMARA,
When dealing with students under the age of 18, the parent or legal guardian must be present.

Patty Aronoff

IN MY INSTITUTION THAT IS A TECHNICAL SCHOOL, ALSO NEED TO HAVE THE HIGH SCHOOL OR GED AND, IF MINOR AUTIRIZACION MUST HAVE A PARENT TO THE STUDY.

Sabonda,

Perfect! Most employers require a high school diploma or equivalency to be hired. Having students under 18 does require parental consent.
