Social Media
definitely, I believe social media is a great resource to advertise our School.
Shannon,
We are just beginning to understand the social media context. Many schools are using it in order to contact students and remain connected to the community at large. Other schools choose to stay away.

I agree that Social Media can be a great way to include student engagement and event promotion. However, sometimes social media comments can become difficult to maintain and are not the best avenue for students to ask questions and concerns, especially when they include sensitive information. Make sure the person monitoring social media is well-versed in the rules and regulations to avoid potential problems.
Sandra,
You are right on point, it is a way to advertise and remarket at a high frequency for no cost at all!
Alicia,
Absolutely! What her is monitoring your social media sites needs to make sure that they are in compliance with all rules and regulations of the state of Florida as well as the FERPA rights of current students.

Sandra,
We are just beginning to understand the benefits of social media. The communication tool is so new we are yet to see what will all bring to our culture.

Now-a-days you can hire a social media intern, entry level professional or perhaps one of your students..but don't forget to keep control and supervise over the passwords and posts. Make sure, the supervisor approves to avoid any violations or misbehavior.
There are many benefits to the use of Social Media Channels today, which include students engagement, events promotions, assist students with questions and concerns, highlight the school's benefits and programs, etc...
Francisco,
Social media does take a lot of time to monitor and progress. We need to be knowledgeable in what the social media does for us and how it can help us communicate with our student base.

Andrew,
They can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Social media is part of the culture today and expanding as we speak.

I feel that social media can be a double edged sword. Yes it is great for getting referrals. however, it is very important to have someone that knows compliance well because it is more of a informal location so the possibility of forgetting compliance increases.
The problem I see with social media is that requires a lot of time to follow up. I'm not saying it's a good tool, only that it might be best suited for a somewhat large institution in which different people can participate and be aware of what's going on. If your institution, as it is in my case, is a small school where the owners are filling several positions, then social media could slow you down. But that's only my humble opinion.
Greyci,
It is becoming the medium of choice for many today.
