Ethical Codes (B7)

(7) Refrain from making exagerated statements concerning job or employment opportunities.

- One of the most common questions I get while showing prospective students and families around has to do with job placement following graduation. I'm grateful we have disclosure forms through our career services department so students and parents can see published statistics! It's tempting to want to brag, but I always direct families to the disclosure brochures.

It is very important not to make inflated claims. I like for students to do some research on finding out what opportunities await them after graduation.

Some employment success rate information can be found on the Programatic Disclosure form at our institution and there is always the Director of Education as a go-to for further information. We are told not to print multiple copies of forms out in case there are changes which is a great idea! We are told to refer people to the experts if there is any further clarification needed and not try to guess or "brag" as this person put it which also makes a lot of sense.

This is a very important topic! Many times statistics can change month to month or even more fequently, so it is very important to follow this ethical principle, to keep your and your institutions integrety in tact.

Whitney,

You are correct that it is important to have accurate and updated placement information provided by your career services department.
