New to the field

Hi! I am new to the world of admissions and am pleased to have so many resources to rely on. I am enjoying reading previous discussions and reading the coursework here. I took my first quiz and believe that my career change is a good one - actually not that much different than the field of Human Resources. Is there anyone else out here who can agree with that statement?

I also have an HR background along with accounting and contracts administration. I fully agreey with your statement.

I also have a background in HR and have noticed the similarities. Just like in HR when you are speaking with an employee you need to be careful of what you say and how you say it. When dealing with potential students you also need to be careful of what you say and how you say it. I am new in admissions and this background had helped me tremendously with speaking with people interested in attending a college.

Hi I think that is an excellent way to look at it. In HR an individual must be chosen to benefit the client and in Admissions we want to make sure the client can benefit the potential student. Well said!!

I am coming from a very similar situation with the HR background. There are certainly many similarities between admissions and HR, but it is almost reversed. In HR, you want to see how the individual can benefit your client, but in admissions, you want to see how your client can benefit the potential student. That is how I view it at least!

Hello. Being someone that has come from the world of working for my fraternity's headquarters and also studying Human Resource Development, now coming to this industry I see a lot of common things that I have previously done and picking up on some new things. I can totally agree with you on this statement.
