What it means to be an Admission Represntative!
I feel that we must be understand the needs of our students and direct them into right career field of study that will open new doors for our students, that without a degree wouldn’t not be able to find a career that them and their family could be proud of. These are people’s lives we are dealing with and if we are misleading students down the wrong path it looks really bad on us as admission Representative for not using qualifying questions to get the information to determine if the program or school is right for the student. How do you feel about this Statement?
It is my strong belief that we, as Admissions Representatives, have a duty to our prospective students to instill confidence and encourage the potential student in their journey to obtain an education in their field. I personally will strive to be informed and well prepared to readily answer and reassure the prospects, concerning any questions they may have concerning their current or potential enrollment in our school. Placing emphasis on the prospect's path to success, and opportunities available upon completing academic requirements, is necessary to highlight the commitment I have to helping the prospective student achieve their goals.
I take pride in this opportunity to contribute to the betterment of an individual's career path.
Yes! Problem solvers is the exact word I would use for this position. I think I've heard every excuse for a student not going back to school but I tell everyone, don't let the reason why you need to go back be the reason why you don't go back.
Example someone's children, don't let the fear of missing something with them be the reason you don't go back, when you told me that the reason you want to go is to give them a better life.
Listening is a big part of the job title as well. I follow the 80/20 rule, listen 80% talke 20%. I found when I first started I was talking too much and not listening. I made a point of picking up my pen everytime I started talking and putting it down when I was listening. It allowed me to see how many times I was picking up that pen and really analyze where I was talking too much!
I agree we hold a great responsibility in making sure that we not only give correct information but to make sure that we make sure the student gets the best direction for a new life.
I would agree with this statement and go further by adding that many times prospective students are in front of us and lack a sense of direction. They are relying on us as admissions representatives to explain our programs accurately and determine what path is best for them by learning about their interests, goals, past work experiences and family situations. Identifying the program that best suits and benefits prospective students is critical on many levels.
i agree with all of you. it is vitally important to properly represent the school/college with accurate. reliable, legitimate information to the prospedtive student becasue they are putting their educational/career path in our hands.
It's a mission to educate others to apply or attend a prospect students needs ,also to provided all the correct information so that they can recieve the value and services offered at the institution.
I agree we are the initial experience that could make or break an experience for a prospective student and also that we are the link but it comes down to that individual. I through my experience have learned it is not a normal sales role we all are used to. These prospective students need to be sold on themselves, can they do it, can they afford it, what will it do for them? those are things you can answer but building up the individual and not the school is the way to a successful admissions rep. Building rapport and offering the support the indiviual needs.
We are the face of the school and we need to make sure we create a awesome experience for prospective student.
we are the key puzzle of helping students choose there careers that will best fit them and also fit the school with a great candidate. we also are good listeners and problem solvers
