First Day Jitters
Hello! What was it like for you on your first day as an admissions rep? The good? The bad? The ugly! Tell them all!!
I am new to the industry. Currently I feel very anxious. I want to absorb as much information as possible so I can be an effective rep.
My first day was very nice. I had a trainer and we were able to talk about FAQ and about the paper work involved. Nothing major happened that I couldn't handle. I have had other days that were challenging but everything worked out in the end.
My first day on the job in general was pretty good. It was my first job outside of food service so it was tough to figure out exactly how things worked and to get used to an office setting. The people that I work with are all amazing and they welcomed me in and helped to make me feel like part of the team! The toughest part was realizing that I actually had a hour lunch break and not a working lunch.
My first day was a whirlwind! I remember thinking at the end of the first week that I couldn't handle the position! I worked for an online institution and now I work for a campus based institution. There are so many differences between the student types. I feel like this is like starting all over again. I guess it is though, moving to a different state and learning all over again what regulations are the same and what are different is hard!
I'm ready for the challenge though!
Hello! My experience was really great my first day! Challenging for sure, but definitely good :) There is a LOT to learn and memorize, but the challenge isn't a bad thing. The people here are amazing and the culture is fun and upbeat, which is what I need in a company culture. So far, so GOOD!!!
being that this is not the first online school I've been at, the process was quite easy. I do however remember my first day.... quite overwhelming to say the least
I learned a lot about ITT, our campus and met the staff - who is so friendly and helpful. I am a little overwhelmed with all there is to do, but excited about digging in and getting some school visits booked!
My first day was pretty scary. Not only do I help with admissions, I give tours of our campus. Our campus is pretty big and there is a lot to know. I had all my information written down and I felt like a robot reading all the information. Now after doing the tours for several weeks, I feel much more comfortable. I feel like I am giving an accurate description of our campus and what we have to offer. I really love my job!
Right now, I am still in training and I am so nervous to get on the floor next week. I hope that I say the right things to prospective students according to the guidelines that my school follows. I cant't stop shaking lol.
I will actually start my presentations and cooking demos the middle of September. I am very excited about this opportunity. I have my talk and cooking demo well organized but I realize I have a lot to present in a short amount of time. If students have questions, I want to answer them without taking large amounts of time.Is it best to answer short questions during the presentation and the more complex questions after the presentation one on one?
My "first" day is tomorrow, so I don't know yet! I have had several hours of training already, and I have found the staff to be very knowledgeable. I've already worked at my school for a year in a different capacity, so I'm familiar with the school, staff, faculty, students, and the overall vision, and I think that will make it much easier than starting fresh at a new school in a new position (which I've done before!)
I will admit that I was a bit anxious before my first day. I wasn't nervous about performing the job; as there is always a learning curve. I was more concerned with the career itself and whether I made a smart professional move in taking the job. I was more than relieved and excited after being there a couple hours and witnessing the professionalism each employee showed. I was able to see the care that went into each student and the way in which those students responded. I knew it was going to be very rewarding after that, but more importantly I felt like I found the job I had been looking for.
My first day was great! I have an amazing team. I was introduced to all the staff. I was given a wonderful trainer who has provided me with excellent training material. They've allowed me time to listen to phone calls and reflect on what transpired.
Hello, I see that your first day is no longer your first day. But I have had the pleasure of having training and having no training at all. There are benefits to both if you like being challenged. Admissions is a joy and is a little scary because someone is trusting you with their future. So speak to them as you would a anyone that you want to see succeed. Is what I suggest.
My first day went relatively smooth. I was introduced to co-workers from all departments and given an overview of my training agenda. It was a relieve to see how detailed the training would be and I felt more confident that I would be ready and equipped with information by the time I would meet/speak with my first student. The detailed training has been helpful in my adjustment period.
My first day was interesting and informative. I enjou learning new tasks and working with new people. The learning curve is always a challenge in the beginning of a new job.
My first day really wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I got a ton of training and even though it started to become an information over load, I knew that in time I would be able to figure everything I needed to know out.
Good luck with your training
So far i have been able to listen to alot of great ideas and conversations, but also see where there may be some areas of improvement. I have not had the opportunity to see first hand an interaction with a prospective student but day one, your can't expect it all at once.
