State of Ohio Student Disclosure Form
In this section, it reads "Prior to completing an enrollment agreement, all potential students enrolled in an Ohio school must review and complete the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools' student disclosure form as required by the Board." Now, here's my question. How can a student review and complete the disclosure form before the enrollment agreement? The first item on the disclosure form is the enrollment agreement. Any thoughts?
Agreed James.
Students come to us and expect us to be the content experts (not only in the field of study they desire, but in every area of support). Although the amount of paperwork is daunting at times for some people, it is always great to have a student and/or partent thank you for investing the time to explain and answer all their questions.
"There are many forms..." Very true.
Just think about how confusing it would be if your realtor wasn't absolutely clear on the legalities of your first home purchase.
In a service-minded industry, such as admissions, being well versed in the paperwork does more than reassure your client that you know what you are doing. You are the face of your school. If you don't know what you are doing (or don't know to whom you should refer) not only do you look unprofessional but your school's reputation takes a hit as well.
Quinn:
That's an excellent question. Paragraph 1 of the student disclosure form states that "I have read and received a copy of the enrollment agreement and received a copy of the school catalog." Thus it would be possible for a student to read and receive the enrollment agreement, then sign the student disclosure form, then sign the enrollment agreement.
However, understanding that their are many forms that must be signed as part of the enrollment process, I don't think the State Board is overly concerned about having the enrollment paperwork signed in the exact same order every time. The most important issue is that a student's enrollment would not be complete until they have signed the student disclosure form.
We will review the language of the rule at issue (Ohio Admin. Code 3332-1-09) and recommend that the language of that section be rewritten to state "Prior to completing their enrollment in a school..." since that is the actual intent of the rule.
