Catalog Access

Prior to this training course, I didn't know how important it was that all students had access to the school catalog before enrollment.

Having the catalog online for students to access not only benefits the students before enrollment but also afterward when they have questions regarding the program and school.

stephanie,

I am glad the training was able to clarify that for you.

i also did not know that students were allowed and required access to our school catalog prior to their enrollment. I will have to make sure to release these to every student i speak with.

It is one step in my process of enrolling a student into our school, passing out the catalog and pointing out certain pages and information that I went over during the first interview. I believe that our school catalog is also a great marketing tool as it shows what our school provides.

I really didn't know either, but now that I have to work with prospected students and go over the catalog with them on a daily basis, it really is my bible to helping them understand our program. We try to e-mail our cataloge to each and every request so that it helps with paperwork and gives the possible student time to read and ask questions when the interview takes place.

It is required by my school that all prospective students aknowledge the catalog prior to being accepted.

Going through the catalog with the student is another great way to get them excited. You can use it to point out the "required info" as well as showing more details about all of the classes they can take.

I do a fair amount of long distance enrollments and recruiting. The digital copy of the catalog is one of my strongest tools. I can email the copy within minutes of my first / qulaification interview. I tell the prospective student to forward the file to any other members of their "decision committee". It's easy for them to forward to referrals too.

Once I confirm interest in our programs from the propsective student, then I mail a hard copy.

Not only is our catalog available on line, but we also mail an informational packet (which includes a catalog, along with financial aid and other information)the same day a prospect inquires.

having access to the catalog is helpful for a prospective student. that way the student and read at his/her own pace and understand what is being offered

It is important to advise inquries that the catalog includes important information that they need to be aware of.

I was informed of how important it was in training. This why the student has to acknowledge it. It is a good idea to inform students what is in the school catalog and advise they go to the catalog if they have any questions about the courses, school, etc.

I did not know that all students needed access to the school catalog before enrollment. I must say that I personally make sure that every student I work with has access to the course curriculum for their intended program of study. I have the student read over the program outline and get their agreement that I have them in the program of which they want to be in. I know that the catalog contains a lot more information I will start directing prospective students to the entire catalog so they can review it as well.

Our catalog is online, but we always give a hard copy on enrollment. The students need a lot of information prior to starting school, and having access to the catalog is critical to their success in school.

We go through the catalog with the potential student before enrolling and give them a hard copy after enrolling. I think it would be very beneficial to have one online though, especially since there are many people now who are exploring all of their options online and it could also be useful for current students to always have access to it.

Yes that is hugely important that student's have access to classes and their course descriptions. This way it shows a representative motivation within the student if they come to the interview informed and it gives them all the information about classes that they will need right at their finger tips.

I have always made sure that students have the catalog when I pull out the enrollment documents. It is very important for them to get complete information and access to the information provided in the catalog. I really find it helpful to have the catalog available online for them to refer to with questions.

We now have to inform all prospective students on the phone that our catalog in on the internet. The website is fortis.edu

I was unaware as well students were required to get a copy prior to enrollment. Typically our students receive their catalog once they have gone through the entire admissions process, when they actually sign the enrollment application is when they receive their copy. We do not offer an online copy but I think that is a great idea, one that I will bring up in our next meeting.
