refund policies

I am glad to see that refunds are given to students who provide the school with written cancellation w/in 5 days.

It is so important that each prospective student realizes if they are not able to proceed and they have to cancel. They can receive a refund, if they follow the proper refund procedure.

I agree, sometimes things happen and you can't attend school/class like you thought you would be able to. We are doing the right thing by giving students refunds

Troy,

Many schools have internal polices regarding these type of situations. Often a student with a serious medical issue that comes up during the course of a program will be placed on a leave of absence or given other consideration by the school.

The 5 day cancellation period is nice, but what about the students with sudden serious issues? Family Death, Terrible accident, Serious illness/health challenges...? Those can come within the 5 day window and cripple a student's academic progress. Should there be a plan in place for extenuating circumstances?

Its good to have that knowledge to relieve some of the stress associated with the student feelings of being rushed into something.

I agree and I beleive that is because in the past there may have been schools that never requested that signed document and the student still received their refund.

Yes, I believe the 5 day policy is very necessary to implement and let students know about becuase college is a huge decision.

I would agree, i have many students call in and they think that suffices as their cancellation and then assume they will get their refund. I find it sometimes a hassel and that I have to reiterate what the cancellation policy is over and over even though it states clearly in our cateloge

I always make sure i state this line and pause so that students get a full understanding of this is just the application process. You still have a grace period to change your mind hopefully I've done my job in providing the features of our courses.

I like the 5 day refund policy. It mainly helps those who go through the financial aid process towards the beginning of the quarter, as opposeed to those who sign up months before the quarter starts.

We have a 5 day clause. It's suprising how many students or prospective students will call two or three weeks later and ask for their app fee back.

i think this helps the student know for sure if this is the right move and that everything goes right to have a successful career

So am I! I was afraid that would not be the case, but the school is doing right by the student to refund that money. If the student gives us the respect to notify us within that short of time period, we should give them respect as well.

It is a nice policy but you'd be surprized how many students just want to call you and not write their cancellation in even a simple email.

I agree with what you said. Many times life throws people several curve balls and agreements that have been entered into cannot be fulfilled. With that being said, at least a student has 5 days to submitt a written cancellation, thus be refunded when appropriate.

Me Too. I had a student ask that question just yesterday. She had asked the Financial Planner what happens to the tuition when students drop out. He informed her that you are only charged for the time you spent here and a reimbursment is made for the time you did not complete. i like this and I think its fair.
