Financial Assistance

How much detail should a rep go into about the financial aid process?

We mention t our prospective students that they will be able to meet with a student finance advisor during their tour of the campus, however, some students persist in which case we may transfer their call to a student finance advisor straight away.

With our Admissions office, we defer to the Financial Aid department to answer specifics about this. We do say that we have programs available, but any details are given by our FA department.

This is only my second day of training, but I am under the impression I am more of a "middle" man for the Financial Aid process. I can give some basic information about financial aid to the prospective students, but for more specific and detailed information I should refer the student to the Financial Aid Officer or another representative who works in the Financial Aid office. I will begin networking with workers in the Financial Aid office so I can get answers easily when needed and can get in touch with someone faster.

We set up potential students with a brief financial aid meeting with a coordinator during their first visit.

At our school, we are deferring conversations regarding financial aid to the Financial Aid Department. There is a fully staffed F.A. team that is versed in all the current information.

Brandon,

I would ask the admissions director at your school about any specific polices in place at your school regarding financial aid questions. Generally, specific financial aid questions should be answered by staff in the financial aid department.
