acceptance of credits
I was suprised to learn that to be compliant a school MUST state it's policy concerning the acceptance of credits. At the school I am associated with, we are required to state that the transferability of credits is made at the discretion of the receiving institution. That statement covers both credits received by the institution I am currently employed and transferability of credit FROM the institution to another institution.
I have had good results with having students look at their long term goal and work backwards. By that I mean what will it take to get there and start with the last schooll and start making phone calls to find out what schools have had crdits transfer in in the past. It is rare you have a student this focused and know where they want to be but they do come along and good not to misrepresent anything!

If a student is concerned about whether another school will accept credits from your school, you should encourage the student to contact the other school to determine their transfer of credit policies. If a student has significant concerns about transferring credits its obviously something the student should look into before starting school.

I understand that it's up to the excepting school's discretion if and which types of credit hours they accept as transferable. However how many students typically does that prevent from attending your school; if they feel that most if not the majority of other universities they possible are interested in attending for lets say a masters program won't accept your institution's credits?
We have the same policy. It covers both sides. How can you have a policy that covers anouther schools acceptence?
It is the same here at my institution as well. It is very important to identify credit transferability I think because so many prospective students assume that no matter where they go all credits will transfer because it is all post-secondary. This is a great way to ensure the integrity of your institution.
