Understanding the process
It is very important that a student must understand the enrollment process. Agents should take the time and go over all docs with students so they asked any questions or if they have any concerns.
I agree with the above posters, the paperwork can be very daunting to apply for college and financial aid so the more clarity Admissions Officers provide the easier it becomes for the student.
I also think it is important to make sure they know what they are signing, but to also ask if they have any other questions before signing. Sometimes just asking them brings about more questions that they are unsure about.
I think this is a good idea - there is so much paperwork that the prospective student is going through that it seems as if they may just start going through the motions to get things signed and move on. To have them explain back to the admissions rep what the individual is signing could help ensure this student will be able to be successful in a college setting.
I agree. As an Admissions Rep, we want our students to have confidence in their decisions but also trust our judgement. When the time arrives to complete the enrollment papers, you should have developed a trusting relationship with the student, so when you ask them if they understand - they are honest with their yes or no answer. If you sense any hesitation, I would ask them to explain what they are doing/signing...in their own words.
