Importance of honesty
I think its very important to keep the honesty with the student and informing them of everything even if it wasnt required of the state. This builds good rapport and credibility for the school and yourself.
When you choose to live a life of character, you will soon realize that you have nothing to hide… and honesty is a much easier path if you don’t have anything to hide.
I am currently in training, entering into my first job as an admissions representative. I have sat through several initial meeting with our reps and prospective students. Honesty is critical, as admission representatives, building credibility with students ensures long term success for you and the school. I have also witnessed students being "vague" dishonest during interviews, once the truth is discovered, the deal turns bad for all involved, both parties realize the they have been wasting their time, time better spent with honest direct factual information sharing is the only way to be successful.
Honesty is always the best policy. You're building trust and credibility.
One must always be honest in this business especially. There are so many options that honesty must be the starting point of this process.
Honesty is extremely important. I've found that if you are upfront with students and provide thorough information, then this minimizes issues or misunderstandings later. We try to give out as much information as possible even when students call in to inquire about our programs.
I have had hands on experience attending a school where they were less than honest about many things. The school got a bad reputation and as a result they went out of business. Due to this experience, I find it is very important to be honest at all times. Most of the time it is not a deal breaker and the potential students will respect you more.
There's nothing more important in relationship building than honesty. If a prospective student trusts the Rep only good things can happen for everyone involved...the student, the school and the Rep.
I believe being honest with the students is crucial in this field. If the students trust you then they will feel comfortable with you and have a good feeling about the school.
I completely agree. You need to be as honest as possible with the student, so they trust you and trust the school.
It is unfortunate that some reps may not fully disclose valuable and crucial information to students. I think honesty is the best policy for you, your student, and your school.
the same is true if you mislead them. If you are misleading a student who trusts you, they could be enrolling and signing paperwork based on trust rather than knowledge and that is risky.
I agree with you. I am the QA manager for our school and it is our mission to make sure we are honest to our prospects at all times. Sometimes that means that a student will not enroll with your school, however it is better to know that their decision was based on truth than on being mislead.
It's sad that these guidelines have to be put in place because there are those that tried to deceive people in the past. I know it is still going on somewhere but i feel great knowing my school excels based on it merits and i do not need to lie to sign up students.
I completely agree with this statement and it is one of the reasons I was drawn to this school and this field. One "bad apple" can cause damage to the institution and having an honest, ethical staff will make for a positive, working environment.
I agree. Be honest with the student and the honesty will be reciprocated. It's important to build rapport and it's our job to make the students feel comfortable with their decision.
Honesty is the best policy, this will build the trust of the students and possibly refferals!
Not only can giving inaccurate information damage your credibility,it can also land you in serious trouble with your school. I've heard stories of admissions reps being fired on the spot for giving misinformation to a student. Honesty is definitely the way to go.
Its very important to be honest and upfront with the student. This builds up great rapport and trust. For a lot of people this is their first time entering college. Its new and scary for them. I don't want to add to the stress they are already feeling.
I think that honesty is great too. I also believe that when a student is fully informed they feel the most comfortable.
