Marketing with Facebook

Does anyone know whether or not it is ok to talk about our school's program on social media sites as long as we do not mention specifics or try to recruit directly from the social media sites? It seems like this would be a very inexpensive medium to educate more people on the advantages of attending school and providing them information quickly about their options. This is one medium I would love to explore in regards to educating people about the advantages of obtaining higher education.

Our school's social media outlets have been quite successful in promoting events and special programs that we offer. So many people are using Facebook and Twitter so it would only make sense to use these outlets to promote our school's benefits.

I would agree. With have to adapt to the times. of course a person should always aske the DOA or CD.

I think that using a tool like facebook would be a great way of connecting and finding PDRs. Of course everyone should ask their DOA, it truly is a great way to reach a variety of potential students.

Our school also has a FB site that is monitored daily. It is a great way to reach out and advertise special events at the college. FB has really added some great features to business pages.

Facebook is one form of media where almost ALL of the market we are trying to reach are involved. I think that using Facebook should be encouraged.

I agree that it seems harmless, and that it would be helpful to use this type of network especially for online divisions. Both Twitter and Facebook are so popular now.

It is not allowed at ITT Tech Institute to market the school thru a social network.

Our institution has a Facebook website, it is extremely popular. I think social media is the wave of the future when it comes to advertising especially with students.

Bridget,

There is no general prohibition against talking about schools or programs on social media sites. I would check with your school admissions director to determine what your school's policy is in regards to social media use.
