Face to Face
Social Media is advancing in the way people communicate personal, business, and advertisement for an event or product. I still believe the best way to promote and make people aware of your product is face to face. Word of mouth is number one for marketing your product. People feel a better connection if you interact with them face to face. You can have a business card or brochure and place it in their hand and be genuine. A prospective student would remember you(rep)as being more personalable. Social Media is a good tool to use, but nothing will beat face to face, with a business card in hand.
I think meeting face-to-face with students helps them become more comfortable with you, and in turn, they become more comfortable on campus.
I agree! Meeting face to face helps to build the repore with the prospect and it makes them feel more comfortable.
I agree with this point hands down. There are times I will schedule a prospective student to meet with me in person to answer questions, conduct a tour or to meet with faculty and instructors. It gives them more confidence in making a sound decision in the end.
I agree. I feel that when a potential student actual sees you helping you face to face its better than any call, email or mail. The best way to communicate is face to face. I feel much more connected with students that interact with this way and they trust you more. Even having eye contact and a handshake can go a long way.
One important thing that i mention during an intial interview, is that our relationship doesn't end once thay enroll and start school. I assure them that i'll be with them every step of the way. I'll be here to encourage, motivate, and to help as best i can to ensure their success. Not to enable, but to assist, in addition to their efforts.
Yes, I agree face to face is the best way to convey ideas and concepts to help determine if the school is whats best for the student. Tours go a long way!
I agree you can't replace a face to face encounter and creating that personal relationship that will make someone feel comfortable attending the school you represent.
I agree that social networking is a great way to get the word out; however, retention studies have proven that what helps student stay in school and complete their programs is the personal face-to-face interaction with faculty, staff and their peers. The more they participate in that kind of interaction and making connections with faculty, staff and peers, the more likely they are to complete.
The more weapons in your arsenal the better. But its not wise to limit yourself to just one!
though social media has made a huge mark on society, it is still important to kee people involved with face to face communications. Social media can take out the personal effect that speaking to someone face to face can have.
Social media is very important, espacially to the younger generation. I believe we would be cuttign ourselves short if we were naive in thinking it isn't an integral part of communication and reaching groups of people.
I completely agree. Advertising through social media can possibly be time and cost effective but I doubt that is really the most informative to the student. Additionally, a personal conversation is much more memorable and impactful than a simple post on a social networking site can ever be.
Great point. I think a lot of do tend to use only social media, in the long run this will hinder our performance. It is best to use all tools available instead of using only one of them.
