Social Networking

Do you guys use any of the social networks to reach out to students if so what to you say?

We have a facebook page, but it is mostly used for general information, fun things done on the campus, and snow closings.

We don't for our campus currently. What a great way to keep students informed. Thank you for the idea!

Facebook seems to be very effective in reaching perspective high school students. It's mandatory that a separate account is created that is used only for contact with perspective students and contains appropriate photos, language, etc. for doing so. Activiating a Google Voice account has enabled us to text students as well, which has become extremely helpful in extending the available hours we are able to reach and interact with students that were previously off limits, for example during work hours. Google Voice can be used from the point of initial contact “Are you still interested? I can help.” to updating students on events, scholarships, and any necessary steps required for financial aid, enrollment, etc.

I know sme of my coworkers uuse our home page on facebook to let them know of upcoming activits and such but I am not sure how we should be using it, I don't want students to have access to my own personal FB page so I am still elarning about how to use it effectively
